Close protection is about avoidance, not confrontation. The work is largely planning, observation and route management — most of which the principal never notices, and all of which exists so that nothing ever becomes an incident.

What the Role Involves

Threat assessment. Every assignment begins with an honest appraisal of the actual risk. Some clients need a full team; many need considerably less than they were told elsewhere.
Route planning and secure driving. Primary and alternative routes, timing, drop-off and pick-up points chosen for exposure rather than convenience.
Advance checks. Venues, hotels and meeting locations assessed before arrival — access, exits, medical provision, local conditions.
Residential security. Home assessment and, where needed, overnight or ongoing cover.
Travel support. Airport movements, accommodation vetting and liaison with local providers when travelling.
Profile management. Low-profile cover where visibility itself is the risk; overt presence where deterrence is the point. Both are valid — which one you need is a judgement made per assignment.

Who We Work With

Company directors and executives — particularly during disputes, redundancies, hostile transactions or after a public controversy.
Visiting international clients — where an unfamiliar city and an unfamiliar risk picture combine.
Public figures and media personalities — event attendance, appearances and periods of heightened attention.
Individuals facing a specific threat — harassment, stalking or credible threats, often alongside a police report rather than instead of one.
Families — school runs, residential cover and travel where a family member is the actual exposure.

Standards and Discretion

All operatives hold a current SIA Close Protection licence — a distinct qualification from security guarding, requiring substantially more training.
Operatives are screened to BS7858 and selected for the specific assignment. Background, presentation and temperament all matter in a role spent close to the client.
Every enquiry is handled in confidence. We do not name clients, publish case studies or use assignments in marketing, ever.
Where the threat is criminal in nature, we will tell you plainly that police involvement should run alongside private protection. A security contract is not a substitute for a crime reference number.

Is this only for celebrities?

No. Most close protection work in the UK is for business people during a difficult period, or individuals dealing with harassment. It is far more ordinary than television suggests.

Will it be obvious that I have security?

Only if you want it to be. Low-profile operatives dress and behave to fit the setting. For some clients visible deterrence is the objective; for others, invisibility is the whole point.

How far in advance do you need notice?

As much as possible, because the planning is where the value is. Short-notice cover can often be arranged, but a properly assessed assignment is always a better one.

Is it confidential?

Completely. Nothing about an assignment is disclosed, referenced or used in our marketing. Confidentiality terms are in every contract.
